OMAD: One Meal a Day

Are you obese?

If you are overweight or even obese you might have been in yo-yo diets all your life. You probably lost hope that you could reduce a few pounds. In your 40s, 50s, or even 60s, you have given up any dreams of becoming physically fit again. You tried calorie restrictive diets. You did one hour of daily workouts with only a few pounds loss to show for the effort. Eventually giving up. Then, you went back to your old habits. With them, you put back on the pounds you lost and a few more on top.

Time for a change

You are not to blame. Release that sense of guilt. You simply did not have the knowledge necessary to change your life. Yes, you can change your life. I am glad you found FFFL because I am about to show you how to reduce a few pounds. This might be the key to become fit, increase your mental acuity and love for life. In sum, to become more in tune with your own health and the possibility of a long life.

Introduction

That on the right is me, Juan Sarmiento, 10 years ago at age 53 with my wife Ulla. I found the tools to reduce my body weight to what it was at age 25. The tools to become more fit than I ever was, even as a young man. Back in 2009, I started my own OMAD (one meal a day) regimen. Back then OMAD was not even “a thing”. I was not hopeful that this was going to be different from any diet I had previously tried. I simply knew I had to reduce weight. OMAD seemed to be something I could sustain for years, if necessary. I didn’t have to count calories, eat only salad, carrots, and celery and/or exercise for hours daily. In fact, my approach was to eat anything and everything I wanted every day, as long as it was in one meal a day.

Our Story

OMAD Then

The OMAD idea came to me from General McChrystal, back in 2009. There are several interviews of him talking about OMAD, but the original was in 60 minutes in Sept. 2009. Soon after I began my OMAD regimen, the pounds began to fall. And as they did, my goal weight had to be adjusted down. First, I went from 227 lb to 200 lb. Then, as my body began to change, I changed my daily routine 45 min leisurely walk for a 2hr brisk walk.

Somehow I found both the motivation and the energy, and as I found out later, both were due in great part to OMAD. Although it did take me a long time to lose weight, I never had to count calories or restrict my intake.

OMAD Now

Today, intermittent fasting, carbohydrate restriction, and ketogenic diets are common terminologies. Knowing then what I know now, I think I could have lost the weight faster, and so can you. I would recommend to start off with OMAD for 21 days. Then you will be habituated and adapted to your new lifestyle.

If even that seems too difficult there are easier forms of intermittent fasting (IF) to get you started. However, OMAD has many benefits beyond other forms of fasting. For now, please go to the blog and see all the current trends on IF. Feel free to ask your questions in the Discussion page. I promise to share with you my best suggestions on how to deal with your weight control issues. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can feel young again!
